Who we are

UDS works with rural communities in  Uganda to relieve poverty - operating in a specific area (Kamuli) - alongside  UK and Ugandan organisations that share our vision and charitable objectives. We work with our Ugandan partner, a registered NGO, who identifies local issues and appropriate solutions. Click here to read our latest annual report.

Vision

Our vision is of a poverty-free Uganda where people have access to information and training to improve their economic status.

Mission

We exist to tackle the causes rather than the symptoms of poverty by helping people and organisations gain access to information and training. We do this through our  Kamuli Development Centre where we provide
  • A library and study area to give access to books and newspapers
  • Internet access and I.T. training enabling people to improve their economic prospects.
  • Training in agricultural techniques and sustainability giving subsistence farmers the opportunity to improve their incomes
  • Skills for building household technologies, improving health and reducing  time spent in menial labour
We also provide information and services to other UK and Ugandan organisations working in Development.

Statement of Faith

UDS is guided by Christian values which allows us to respond with love and compassion to those in need.  We respect the dignity of the individual and conduct our business with the utmost of integrity. We help people of all faiths or none.
